Take advantage of the opening kilometres to warm up and find your legs — you’ll need them. At roughly 5 km, the course turns sharply upward for the first major test of the day: about 560 vertical metres of climbing to the summit of Apex Mountain.
The Gauntlet drops hard and fast on steep, technical singletrack. You’ll lose roughly 500 metres over 3 km, so expect your quads to be talking by the bottom.
After summiting Beaconsfield Mountain, enjoy the descent on the Good, the Bad & the Ugly singletrack. Then it’s time to start climbing again — Mount Riordan is next.
The last big climb of the day. By now you’ve already been over Apex, Beaconsfield and Riordan. Dirty Harry is the final major push before the long descent back to the finish.

This is the full Wildside experience. 28 kilometres and more than 2,200 metres of climbing, with very little flat ground and no single climb that gets to take all the credit.
The course repeatedly climbs into the Apex high country before sending you straight back down. Expect long sustained climbs, exposed ridgelines, steep technical descents and gradients reaching 40%. Just when one major effort is behind you, the profile starts pointing up again.
The final major climb comes late, topping out around 26 km, before a long, fast descent drops you more than 450 vertical metres toward the village.
28 kilometres. Over 2,200 metres up. Earn every one of them.
